Performance Evaluation of the CM - 5 Interconnection Network 2

چکیده
This paper presents performance characteristics of the CM-5 data network with respect to bandwidth and latency. We present the maximum eeective network bandwidth as a function of (1) message size, (2) varying data path through diierent levels of the network hierarchy, and (3) system load. We also present latency as a function of message size and network hierarchy. In the second part of our evaluation, we present the maximum eeective network bandwidth as a function of data ow pattern (2-d and 3-d mesh, stencils, ring, tree, and hypercube) using several variant embedding schemes. Measurements were obtained using CMMD V 1.3.1, Thinking Machine Corporation's message-passing library, and CMNF V 1.1, a fast message-passing library developed by the Minnesota Supercomputer Center (MSC) for the Army High Performance Research Center (AHPCRC). Using CMNF we were able to observe measurements which were very close to actual hardware capabilities.

Performance Analysis of a New Neural Network for Routing in Mesh Interconnection Networks
Routing is one of the basic parts of a message passing multiprocessor system. The routing procedure has a great impact on the efficiency of a system. Neural algorithms that are currently in use for computer networks require a large number of neurons. If a specific topology of a multiprocessor network is considered, the number of neurons can be reduced. In this paper a new recurrent neural ne...

متن کاملA Study of an Evaluation Methodology for Unbuffered Multistage Interconnection Networks
Interconnection network performance is a key factor when constructing parallel computers. The choice of an interconnection network used in a parallel computer depends on a large number of performance factors which are very often applications dependent. We try in this paper to give the outlines of a performance evaluation and comparison methodology using what we think of as the most important pa...
متن کاملA universal performance factor for multi-criteria evaluation of multistage interconnection networks
The choice of an interconnection network for a parallel computer depends on a large number of performance factors which are very often application dependent. We propose a performance evaluation and a comparison methodology. This methodology is applied to a recently introduced class of interconnection networks (Multistage Chordal Ring Based multistage interconnection network). These networks are...
متن کاملModelling and performance study of finite-buffered blocking multistage interconnection networks supporting natively 2-class priority routing traffic
In this paper, we model, analyze and evaluate the performance of a 2-class priority architecture for finite-buffered Multistage Interconnection Networks (MINs). The MIN operation modelling is based on a state diagram, which includes the possible MIN states, transitions and conditions under which each transition occurs. Equations expressing state and transition probabilities are subsequently giv...
